Children in Schools

By giving children the opportunity to realise their full potential and improve their life chances, education can provide a lasting solution to poverty and disadvantage.

However, in the UK, the links between economic disadvantage and educational underachievement are strong and stubborn. Consequently, Sofronie’s work focuses on providing vulnerable and disadvantaged children with educational support. We fund evidence-based projects that build children’s confidence, raise their aspirations and increase their academic achievement.

Abroad, Sofronie funds educational programmes in Sub-Saharan Africa and Cambodia. Here, we often need to provide more than educational support alone. Yet our principles remain the same: to identify a specific need – such as street children, or those living in rural areas – and then fund programmes that will help these children to acquire the education they need; one that will have a lasting impact upon their lives.
