Working through schools, the Apps for Good charity delivers free technology training to inspire students from the ages of 10 – 18 to create software applications for the benefit of their communities. Apps for Good provide the expertise and work closely with teachers to deliver a creative learning environment to design, programme and market the students’ ideas.
The Apps for Good team works and shares materials/information with business employees to encourage them to sign up to the Expert Programme, which mentors students within 9 sponsored UK schools. This exciting project helps 800 students to develop technological and entrepreneurial skills – with any designs that could make a commercial success being marketed on behalf of the students by the Apps for Good team.
The Apps for Good programme aims to equip students with the ability to research, design and make digital products that can be taken to the market. But the creation of the apps is not the only objective – the Apps for Good team wants to produce able, self-confident, collaborative young people who are ready to make a difference to their world. They believe most children are avid consumers of technology and joining the programme helps them become the makers of future technology.
