Sofronie will be the founder of a new Dutch foundation Codam and fund the creation of a digital skills training space, free to students 18+ in Amsterdam.
Codam as a licensed partner of 42 in Paris will provide a unique learning environment to teach programming and provide skills for future jobs in technology.
No qualifications required – just a huge amount of determination!
According to current market data, jobs in technology will continue to grow around the world. The IT sector in the Netherlands is expected to grow by 11.2%, faster than many other job types but employers complain they are unable to fill these roles with suitable “tech savvy” staff.
Codam hopes to provide the digital skills required for future tech jobs.
The only entry requirement is grit and determination, no qualifications needed. You will be provided with a thorough programme of coding challenges and the rest is down to you.
Working without any teachers, you will manage your own learning by following a programme of gamified challenges and work together with your peers to find solutions to progress to the next stage. As a team you can pool your knowledge and curiosity to achieve your tasks. Each student will have their work assessed by another student and by doing so the learning and teamwork grows. As part of the programme students are expected to take on internships with local businesses. Depending on your capability the average programmer will take 3 years to finish the course.
The assessment process called “La Piscine” will commence in the autumn of 2018 and end at the end of the year. Successful students will start full time as “Codammers” in January 2019.
