Barefoot College
Based in Rajasthan, Barefoot College gives people living in rural communities the training and education they need to look after themselves. Established in 1972, it trains them in efficient ways to harvest water, supply and maintain solar power, and build homes. There are 23 affiliated Barefoot Colleges in 15 states around the country.
Child Welfare Scheme (CWS)
CWS is a UK charity, originally established in 1997 to develop children’s Day Care Health Centres in remote mountain villages in Nepal. Since then, CWS’ activities have increased considerably in both scale and diversity, but its aims are unchanged: to address the suffering of children in Nepal and provide opportunities for a brighter future.
