The Wandle Trust is an environmental charity dedicated to looking after the river Wandle in south west London. They hold monthly river cleanups and they also run an award-winning Trout in the Classroom (TITC) project which Sofronie Foundation is supporting. The project consists of introducing fish tanks into the classroom, the children watch the fish hatch and learn about the life cycle of the trout. The children then go to the River Wandle with their trout and release them into the river. We think this is a delightful project. We particularly like the way it makes children aware of their local environment and how it needs to be looked after. It is also a fantastic way to bring lessons to life right across the curriculum.
